Las Vegas WEEKLY reports that ‘12 Inches of Sin’ returns to Sin City Gallery

12" of Sin Erotic Art

Featuring “UV Liquid Gold” by Robert Babylon as their promotional image the “12” of Sin Exhibition” can be seen at the Sin City Gallery in Las Vegas. Following a spectacular opening reception on 3rd April (with the party artwork also by Robert Babylon) the exhibition itself runs through to May 18, Wednesday-Saturday, 1-7 p.m. Sin City Gallery, Arts Factory, 608-2461.

Sin City Gallery, Las Vegas’ home to erotic art, opens its third-annual 12 Inches of Sin exhibit April 3, featuring works plucked from 250 entries from 18 countries, each abiding by the same rule: 12 inches or less. Along with its sidekick exhibit, Le Salon des Refusés du Péché, the show—which only requires work to be no larger than 12 inches in any dimension—celebrates sexuality in all forms, positions, media, viewpoints and camera angles.

Painting, sculpture, photography and cartoon illustrations tap into the humorous, sentimental, abruptly literal and political. Even C-3PO from Star Wars makes an appearance, in an acrylic-on-canvas painting by Poland’s Janusz Orzechowski, who has the droid eyeing a line of nude female mannequins. It’s an event that awarded its first Best in Show to Allan Teger’s “Mountain Climber,” a black-and-white photograph from Teger’s Bodyscapes series of tiny climbers scaling a woman’s breast. Jeff Wack’s photo/digital painting “Oceana” was the Best in Show winner for 2013. And this year’s Best in Show award went to JP Rakehorn of London for his mixed-media “Double Cross,” featuring a couple in an emotionally tormented embrace.

Exhibiting “UV Liquid Gold” at SinCity Gallery in Las Vegas

12 Inches of Sin

The 12 Inches of Sin Art Exhibition has announced the winners of this years international juried art exhibition. SinCity Gallery created 12 Inches of Sin and Le Salon Des Refusés Du Péché exhibitions as an expansion of its presentation of artwork that displays exceptional quality, inventiveness, and wit. SinCity Gallery in Las Vegas was voted amongst the best 25 galleries in America in the 2013 American Art Awards.

Entries were received from 250 Artists from 18 Countries and Robert Babylon’s work “UV Liquid Gold” has been awarded a place in the Le Salon Des Refusés Du Péché section of the exhibition.

12 Inches of Sin features sophisticated, intelligent, witty and provocative artworks from around the world. The juried exhibition explores eroticism and sensuality through the lens of contemporary art, with one twist:  every piece submitted for consideration must not be larger than one foot square. This constriction of the art’s physical space creates a tension within the art itself, expanding the challenge inherent in each piece’s creation.

The exhibition fosters fresh and exciting work by both new and established artists, and provides art patrons with the opportunity to secure works of art from prestigious and emerging artists that embody both the cutting edge of today’s contemporary art world and the vast breadth of artistic expression.

“Far From Grey” Solo Exhibition at Harmony Store in Soho, London

Harmony’s new boutique store on the edge of Soho (99a Charing X Rd) will be offering a new dimension to their customers’ fetish fantasies with the opening of ‘Far From Grey’ on Tuesday 1st April, an exhibition by erotic photographer and artist Robert Babylon.

Robert’s unique, beautiful and extremely sexy artwork will adorn the walls and be available for sale and to order for the next two months. His award winning neon artwork has been exhibited and published around the world, including a solo exhibition at the World Erotic Art Museum on South Beach, Miami USA and in 2012 two pieces of Robert’s work were added to the permanent collection of Dr Naomi Wilzig – the 4th largest collection of fine-art erotica in the World.

There will be a “Meet the Artist” evening on Thursday April 3rd from 17:00 to about 21:00. Please RSVP to attend (and for further information) to Rose Crompton, rose@harmonyuk.com 07786068341.

Far From Grey Exhibition at Harmony Store

Speaking about the upcoming display, Robert said: “My work is designed to appeal to all genders and sexualities and I have always believed that erotica should be enjoyed by everyone. By displaying in Harmony’s Boutique Soho store I hope it will enable people unfamiliar with erotic art work to get a taste for it and offer regular visitors to Soho a chance to see something new.”

Hosting art exhibitions is a first for Harmony, but Simon Pope, buyer for the brand, believes mixing erotic art with intimate items is a formulae that can’t fail: “We sell personal items designed to physically arouse and simulate. Good erotic art is all about stimulating the mind and imagination to get lovers in the mood, which Robert’s work certainly manages to achieve. Combining the physical and the fantasy makes perfect sense and is why hosting an exhibition and selling high-quality erotic art in Harmony works so well. We’re very excited about displaying Robert’s work.”

Robert Babylon’s Neon Dreams at Sh! through September

After a sunny seaside exhibition at the Brighton Fetish Weekend I will be exhibiting my UV and traditionsl artwork at the Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium in Hoxton Square, London throughout the whole of September. Sh! is the UK’s first ever sex shop for women, opened in 1992 as an antidote to sleazy male-orientated shops. The vision was simple: to create a safe, welcoming environment in which women can shop guilt-free for good quality playthings.

Neon Dreams by Robert Babylon

I am very proud that I have more women than men on my client list, my vision is to offer fine art erotica that celebrates and individualises the models rather than degrading them and provides erotica that women can enjoy as much as men.

Sh! is staffed by an all-female team who create a comfortable atmosphere and sensitively advise on sex toys, sexual pleasure and safe sex whatever their customers’ age, sexual persuasion, background or culture. Time out named it “The Best Sex Shop for Women” and ranked it in the 100 top shops in London. The Sh! mission is to enhance & celebrate sexuality which is why no ‘realistic’, blow-up, unsafe or low-quality toys make the Sh! stock list and Cert 18 porn is female-made.

Robert in Rude Magazine

Robert’s work and an interview also feature’s in Rude magazine – the full article can be found online at http://www.rudemagazine.co.uk/culture/robert-babylon-neon-dreams.php.
Rude Magazine

Robert is particularly proud to be included in Rude magazine as it is not just another women’s ‘sex’ magazine, it’s manifesto:

  • A rather different women’s magazine…
  • We aim to step away from the traditional women’s magazine format with its narrow focus on celebrity, weight, fashion, beauty and home and explore our inner lives and what it means to be a woman.
  • Rude is a celebration of femininity and power, a platform for different voices, and a means of supporting each other rather than knocking each other down.
  • Our key values are storytelling, community, curiosity, passion, pleasure, independence and humour.
